The Rangers have been granted a stay in Karachi with special powers by the Sindh government. The summary that called for an extension of Ranger’s tenure was signed by the newly elected Chief Minister, Murad Ali Shah on Monday, one day after a meeting with the PPP co-chairmen and former president Asif Ali Zardari. The paramilitary forces have been granted special powers for the next ninety days and their stay in the province has been extended by one year.
In a statement issued the Chief Minister said that he was hopeful the Rangers will continue to play an important role in maintaining the law and order situation of the province.
